Make an Entrance

Your front door...the entrance into your home, your world, your family, your life. What does your front door say about you and your home. Many times we spend so much effort on the interiors of our home that we forget about the first impression we make at the entrance. Often with good reason...we spend most of our time on the inside and usually entertain on the inside or back porch, lanai, backyard, etc. But let's take a minute to evaluate our front entrance. Does it reflect your style? Does it reflect the style of the house or what's to come on the inside? Is it inviting and welcoming to those who stop by?

It does not have to be the most expensive, most elaborate door with sidelights and transoms and fancy hardware. Paint is one trick that has become a popular trend. The painted front door can make quiet a statement and reflect the personality of the home owner. Play with different color options or finishes. High gloss or lacquered finishes have become very popular again. Potted plants or a seasonal wreath can also create interest and feel welcoming to guests. And please, do not forget about lighting. A well lit entrance with the appropriate scaled fixtures can make a world of difference!
