Lucite is acrylic...just the Dupont brand name for the product. Think about Kleenex for tissues or Band-Aid for adhesive bandages. Acrylic furnishings became popular in the 1930's, popped up again in the 60's and 70's....and are still found all over the market today! You can find acrylic furnishings in vintage shops or at the trendy retailer in the local mall. And it's not limited to just furnishings! Cabinet pulls, drapery rods, shelving, and the list continues. Acrylic has had it's share of ups and downs with all the other trends, but some pieces are true classics and will continue to be seen in all types of interiors. So, with that in mind, let's take a look at this trending classic.
Vintage Lucite and acrylic pieces can be found, but with the growing popularity, it might cost you an arm and a leg. This 1960's table can be purchased for a mere $10,500.
This simple, yet gorgeous nursery boasts an acrylic crib. It truly sets the stage for this eclectic space.
This lovely bathroom keeps a clean, elegant look by using acrylic legs for the sink.
These barstools add a contemporary twist to this classic kitchen design.
And, why not in the office too? I love this desk from CB2!
Clearly, this look can transcend any style and any room....even the foyer.
I'm hoping for one of these consoles soon!
One of the many pieces available today is the popular Louis Ghost Chair
designed by Philippe Starck and manufactured by Kartell.
Did you notice the child sized Lou Lou chairs in the above living room?
They even make barstools in a similar design!
I have my own pair of knock offs that I use all over the house!
One in the guest room as a vanity chair, one as my desk chair and then they float into my living room or at the kitchen table when we entertain. I remember telling my husband that I wanted to bring home a pair of these fabulous chairs....when he saw a picture...well, let's just say he was less than impressed. But, they make me super happy and that makes him super happy!

Do not overlook this trend! It's not as trendy as you may think.
Go right now and find a classic piece. I promise...you will love it for decades!
